Qualifications and Requirements:

• Completion of High school education or equivalent professional experience in content writing may be considered.

• Strong command of the English language, with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to write in a clear, engaging, and accessible style.

• Ability to conduct thorough research on a wide range of topics, particularly those that are unusual or obscure.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently.

• A creative mindset, with the ability to make even the most unusual topics engaging.

• High level of attention to detail, ensuring all content is factually accurate, well-structured, and free from errors.

• Ability to collaborate with project owner and the respective stakeholders. 

Additional qualifications that will be considered an added advantage: 

• Professional content writing experience, preferably within social media, blogging, or digital media sector will be considered an added advantage. 

• Familiarity with SEO principles, including keyword usage, meta descriptions, and internal linking strategies will be an added advantage. 

• Basic skills in image editing tools like Canva to create visually appealing and relevant content. 

• Familiarity with Yoast or similar SEO tools and wordpress.

Position Overview:

We are seeking creative and detail-oriented Content Writers to join our team for the “Weird, Fantastic and Odd Things” Facebook group, which boasts a community of over 1 million members. As a Content Writer, you will be responsible for crafting engaging, well-researched, and visually appealing articles that align with the group’s theme of exploring weird, fantastic, and odd phenomena. Your content will captivate our audience, sparking discussions and driving engagement within the group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content Creation:

  • Develop articles based on given slugs and titles that revolve around unique and intriguing topics within the group’s theme.

  • Conduct thorough research on assigned topics, utilizing sources like ‘People also ask’ and ‘related searches’ to identify key questions and subtopics.

  • Build a coherent and engaging storyline that aligns with the title and slug, ensuring the article flows logically from the introduction to the conclusion.

  • Write clear, concise, and informative content, with a word count between 500-800 words, adhering to the guidelines provided.

  • Preparing Required visual elements/images through canva and embedding multimedia elements as appropriate.

  • Preparing a suitable featuring image for the article through Canva and uploading it. 

• • Structure and Style:

    • Begin each article with an introduction that summarizes the key points and directly addresses the trigger point from the title.

    • Organize content into subheadings that logically flow, ensuring each section answers relevant questions and supports the overall narrative.

    • Incorporate direct quotes, sayings, and visual elements (images, videos, social media posts) to enhance the storytelling experience and keep readers engaged.

    • Maintain a human-friendly tone that is easy to read, avoiding unnecessary jargon, exaggerations, and complex words.

    • Ensure content meets the readability and SEO standards (Yoast readability and SEO should be green, Grammarly score above 80, and zero plagiarism).

  • Visual Content:

    • Select or create striking, high-quality images (1280×720 pixels) to accompany each article, ensuring visuals are relevant and support the content.

    • Credit all images and videos to the original sources and ensure proper use of Canva for creating feature images when needed.

  • Optimization and Compliance:

    • Optimize content using the trigger point as the slug and keyword, and write meta descriptions that include a clear call to action.

    • Incorporate internal links to recent articles within the same category to increase reader engagement.

    • Ensure all content is original, with zero AI content, and passes plagiarism checks using tools like Grammarly and Duplichecker.
